Do you know, for a fact, that AI crawlers can read your site?
GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot allowed in robots.txt, and not silently blocked by your CDN or bot protection. Most teams have never checked.
02 · Access
Does your site work without JavaScript?
Many AI crawlers read little or none of what client-side rendering produces. If the content only exists after scripts run, it may not exist at all to an engine.
03 · Access
Has anyone on your team seen a crawler-eye view of your site?
What the crawler gets is rarely what your team sees in a browser. If nobody has looked, the answer is no.
04 · Proof
Is your best proof ungated?
Case studies, results, and your strongest report readable without a form. Engines cannot fill out forms, and they cite what they can read.
05 · Proof
Do your key pages carry structured data?
Schema that ties your company to its claims, so engines connect the name to the receipts.
06 · Proof
Is your company name identical everywhere it appears?
Site, LinkedIn, review sites, directories: one name, one description. Inconsistent entities get split into multiple half-strength ones. We learned this one on ourselves.
07 · Content
Do you have pages that directly answer your buyers’ real evaluation questions?
Not thought leadership. The awkward, specific questions committees actually run: integrations, security posture, pricing behavior, comparisons.
08 · Content
Are your claims specific, sourced, and attributable?
Engines extract sentences they can verify and attribute. Unsourced superlatives get skipped.
09 · Content
If a buyer asks an engine “you vs. your main competitor,” does a source you influenced exist?
If the only structured comparison on the internet is your competitor’s, that is the answer buyers get.
10 · Footprint
Do you have third-party reviews at meaningful volume?
Clutch, G2, Capterra, or your category equivalent. Engines lean on third parties precisely because you cannot edit them.
11 · Footprint
Are you cited anywhere beyond your own site?
Rankings, directories, press, expert commentary. Your site saying it is not enough.
12 · Measure
Do you measure how often AI engines cite you, on a cadence?
Citation share, by engine, weekly, against competitors. A one-time look is a snapshot, not a baseline.
